Joyce K. Anastasi, PhD, DrNP, FAAN, LAc is a licensed acupuncturist, Diplomat of the NCCAOM and an Advanced Practice Nurse. She holds two doctorates, a PhD from Adelphi University and a DrNP from Columbia University. She is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. She has been on the faculty of Columbia University for over 16 years and former Helen F. Pettit Endowed Professor. She is currently the Independence Foundation Professor at New York University. She was appointed and served on the Advisory Board for the Institute of Medicine's (IOM) report on The Use of CAM by the American Public.

I am an experienced Registered Dietitian, specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, medical nutrition therapy, and general nutrition counseling. I am currently the director of the nutrition department at the NYS Psychiatric Institute, an in-patient treatment unit at Columbia University Medical Center. My philosophy is founded on the principle that being healthy does not require dieting or deprivation. Dr. Zhou has worked in the field of brain research at New York Medical College, the Uni. of Pittsburgh, Columbia Uni, and Weill Cornell Medical College. His research interest is synaptic mechanisms, therapeutic solutions for neurologic diseases, pain, memory, and learning, possesses a strong publication record.
