With the plethora of pervasive nutrition advice and a culture fixated on health and thinness it makes sense to be overwhelmed, frustrated, and hurt by the task of feeding and caring for ourselves. Messages about “good” versus “bad” foods (and bodies) pervade our psyche from the youngest of ages. We are made to believe that there is a path to the perfect body and diet, and that it is just around the corner if we only continue the exhausting pursuit. The diet culture we all live in steals happiness and makes us become distrustful of our bodies. I firmly believe there is another way, a more sustainable approach to food and health.

I first discovered acupuncture while completing my pre-reqs with the intention of attending medical school at UW - I was struggling with migraines that Western Medicine was incapable of helping me with. An Acupuncturist was able to help me live a migraine free life what I couldn't have previously imagined was possible. I simply fell in love with the medicine and altered my course to pursue my Masters in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Fast forward 14 years, I still love the medicine and am thrilled, on a daily basis, on how I am able to help people improve their lives with a natural, holistic approach to their health.

Feeling overwhelmed and out of control? Is food often a reward or a punishment? Do you find yourself feeling guilty around your food choices or how much you eat? Do you find yourself skipping meals or changing how you eat because you are with other people? Do you struggle with feeling comfortable in your body? Are you eating or exercising to change the way you look? Food is not made to be overwhelming, stressful, guilt-provoking.

"I just want to be able to eat and not feel guilty about it but I also want to feel good in my body." Does this sound familiar? Does it feel like you're either fighting a battle with food or fighting a battle with yourself? Whether you are healing from a diagnosed eating disorder or you're tired of food controlling so much of your life; your intuition is correct, there is another way to engage with food and relate to your body. A way to live more aligned with your values, be present to the relationships you care about, and reclaim your agency. If you're here; congratulations, you're already on your way.

Are you feeling completely out of control with food? Do you feel like you can't stop eating? Are you afraid to eat anything at all? Are you constantly afraid you will gain weight if you eat what you want? If so, it probably feels like there is no hope for you to stop stressing constantly about food and simply eat normally.
