Every person I have had the honor to treat in my practice has made a decision to make change in their lives.

I love helping my patients develop a more positive relationship with food and body image. If you're fed up with diets and ready to break free from the diet-binge-guilt cycle, I want to help. I practice Chinese Acupuncture and Herbology not only to treat a variety of physical symptoms but also as a preventative to many common conditions and ailments. I bring to my practice extensive knowledge of the body gained from my training as a physician and Ob/Gyn in China, and through my 18 years as an practicing acupuncturist. At our clinic we work holistically in both our diagnosis (TCM) and treatment. We believe that pain and disease both manifest from imbalances in Qi, which is the fundamental energy flowing through us. An imbalance in Qi can cause many problems throughout the body.

I practice an "all foods fit" approach to food. You have to eat every day, multiple times a day - choosing what to eat should be an easy, non-stressful task. I work with clients to help teach what an overall healthy and balanced diet looks like and to create a healthy relationship with food in simple, convenient and realistic ways.

Our relationship with food and our bodies often gets complicated. I enjoy helping people develop a new relationship; one that is not guided by judgement or strict rules. I often work with individuals with eating disorders or erratic eating patterns and have years of experience in successfully helping people apply needed changes to their behaviors but also their thoughts and beliefs. In order to find a healthful and maintainable way of taking care of yourself I create a supportive environment as we work together to make progressive changes and deal with obstacles as they arise.

I am a clinically trained, board certified nutritionist specializing in a whole-body approach to health and wellness. Anna Petersen is a Registered and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, certified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensed in the state of Illinois. She graduated with a Master of Science degree in Food, Nutrition and Dietetics and has 10+ years of clinical experience, providing Medical Nutrition Therapy to complex patients in a fast paced acute care setting. Anna’s experience as an inpatient dietitian has provided her with a strong foundation, working with various disease states as well as diverse populations throughout the lifespan.
