Hi! My name is Melissa and I am both a registered dietitian and a nurse. Although I have learned so much and enjoyed working as a registered nurse in both acute care and outpatient settings, my interests truly lie in chronic disease prevention and management through a healthful diet and lifestyle and in learning from the journey taken toward achieving these goals. My passion is in helping others along their journey to reaching their personal health and wellness goals.

After more than 30 years in the field, my passion for nutrition continues. Seeing a client find relief from pain and exhaustion is a joy! Plus, I can relate to their desperation to get their life back. In 2005 I put my knowledge of nutrition to the test when, two weeks after invasive back surgery I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Shortly afterwards I discovered multiple food allergies. Once those were removed I stopped three prescription medications and feel better than I had in years. I absolutely love bringing that relief to clients!

I maintain a general naturopathic practice helping people with digestion, IBS, allergies, arthritis, depression/anxiety, diabetes, infections, and hormone problems like hypothyroidism. I specializes in treating Autism, ADHD, Lyme, fibromyalgia, and providing adjunctive cancer care to help people reduce side effects of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. Many people chose my practice because they have problems that can be difficult to address with only a conventional approach.

I have been a practitioner since I graduated from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1991. For my MS, MD and PHD degrees I specialized in the areas of neurology and gerontology.I practiced acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM) and TCM health Center in Minnesota from October 2004 to April 2010. I practice acupuncture and Chinese herbology in Jing River Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine Edina Clinic, Woodbury Clinic, Roseville Clinic and Hastings Clinic in different location now.

From a young age I have had a great interest in massage therapy and its ability to promote within me a positive enhancement of my physical and mental self image. I also feel that it has a strong impact on me in several aspects. As a doctor in Change,clinic director and teacher I practiced in one of the most prestigious teaching hospital in Beijing China for 10 years before I came to MN USA in 1995. Since 1995 to present I have been helping thousands of patients in my own clinics ( located in twin cities MN). Dr. Nate Champion is a licensed Naturopathic Doctor in Arizona and registered in the state of Minnesota. He is extensively trained in both conventional and alternative medicine. He has attended a 4-year, accredited medical school, including 2 years of clinical rotations, and has passed national board exams. Dr. Champion is Board Certified by the North American Board of Naturopathic Examiners (NABNE). He is also a founding board member and the current Treasurer of the Gastroenterology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (GastroANP), and past Vice President and current member of the Minnesota Association of Naturopathic Physicians (MNANP).

I studied and practiced both Western Medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in China. I also received a Master degree in Nutrition Sciences from the University of Washington in Seattle. I have over 20 years of experience in health care, as an OB/GYN doctor in China, a clinical research specialist in the department of OB/GYN at the University of Washington Medical Center, and a certified nutritionist for the US Federal WIC program. With knowledge, experience, and passion, I started my private practice of TCM in 1996.

She focuses in use of Clinical Nutrition, Homeopathy as well as Botanical Medicine.
